ASTRA STAGES. 9th April 2005

Just a few words about the Rally.......... Excellent, Really enjoyed it! Sitting in the passenger seat for a change with my brother Bagsy in my pug 205. The first two stages were not a problem but on the third stage, about two miles in on a 90 right, the throttle stuck open and at one point we were heading backwards towards a ditch ........but fair play to the old git he managed to pull it back. After that stage we went to service and sorted the sticky throttle problem, then off to Bala we went. Another hairy stage with all the fresh air drops but we got through with out any problems. By this time we had moved to 3rd in class. We decided to perhaps take it a little easier on the last two stages because we were made up with that position...... but NO not Bagsy!....... on the last stage the horns were out and he was driving like a man possesed! .....I didn't even have time to look up from the notes and about a third of the way in we caught a subaru and passed him! We finished that stage and then it was back to Ruthin for a quick service befor heading back to the finish at Llangollen for the results.. to find we had finished 1st in class!... Great fun.

Thanks go to Gwyn Trackoff and Pete Duffy for servicing..
And thanks of course to Bagsy for good result.... any time BRO

Sadly, these might be the last photos of this car ... WELL stuffed on our stage, when the steering apparently failed mid stage, about 5 mins after this photo taken!
..and to think, if he'd have taken me up on my offer i'd have bought a TOTAL wreck!
For Sale ..soon... 1 x Zephyr AND 1 x Anglia ??.... ..just look at the "I want THAT car" look on his face!
