Hint No.1

Reading a .pdf document
(pdf = Portable Document File)

If your pc will not open a web page which is suffixed ".pdf", for example, the page on our site named "MARSHALSTROPHY2009.pdf", then it's most likely you don't have a program on your computer called a "pdf reader", which allows such documents to be read with ease. Probably the BEST pdf reader is produced by Adobe and can be easily downloaded FOR FREE at the link below

However - I now use a much smaller & quicker loading, but equally effective and FREE pdf reader called "pdf Xchange Viewer". This is a free, very lightweight program and it can be easily downloaded at the link below. The ADVANTAGE of this reader is that it also allows for additions to be made to the document, so you can fill in forms etc "on line".

Hint No.2

Install AV Software
(AV = Anti Virus)

Before you attempt to access the internet with your computer or laptop (or mobile phone!) make SURE you have propietry AV software installed on your machine!
There are MANY different AV programs, some are good, some are excellent, some are free, some are quite costly. Basically, "you get what you pay for".
My personal AV of choice is

which is certainly not FREE, but gives a very comprehensive cover for about £30 a year. It runs quietly in the background whenever my pc is on and you really don't know it's there!

Some free AV software is ok, but nothing "FREE" is really free at all and is often bugged by slow responces and advertising. It's also well known for slowing computers to a crawl pace at times (whilst scanning for virus threats etc)

No matter which way you go (free or paid for) my advice is "GET SOME PROTECTION RIGHT NOW" - don't leave it until tomorrow, or even later today - it may well be TOO LATE, if you've currently got no AV and you're on the internet, then the chances are REALLY HIGH that your pc is infected with virus' already - a decent AV program will soon clear any malaware or virus' out of your system

Hint No.3

Page Updates

Want to know when pages on your favourite website have been updated? Then simply install a little program called

This will update you by email, on a daily basis, whenever the page(s) you have "marked for watching" have been updated on a website.

I find this very useful for keeping fully up to date with event entry lists and scoretables. YOU might find it handy on the Rhyldmc website for keeping up to date with the "What's on" (diary) pages, as an example, which is constantly under review.

Hint No.4

Reading a .pdf document (2)

Because of the file size of some of them, if you open a .pdf document on this website, it will sometimes appear as tiny print, almost too small to read.

If this happens to you, simply go to the toolbar at the top of the .pdf page and increase the viewing size from whatever is stated (say, 20%) until the page is clear enough for you to view properly (Maybe 200%, or more, or less)
Depending on your browser, the size setting should remain for future viewing.
