If YOU have ANY old photos that may be of interest to members OR EX MEMBERS (a few of whom DO read this website!!), please don't hesitate to let me know and I'll have 'em on here before you can get back to the index page !!
Some of the names and faces on here are easily recognisable as they are still in Rhyl Motor Club........ Anyone know what's happened to the others? WHERE are they now?.......... We'd love to know........ perhaps YOU are one of them?..... why not get in contact and let us know where YOU are now?
PLEASE NOTE THAT I'VE TRIED TO DECREASE DOWNLOAD TIMES FOR THOSE WITH NON BROADBAND CONNECTIONS BY SEPARATING THIS SECTION OVER MORE PAGES. Now you can go thru either Page by Page to see ALL the memories, or go direct to a particular page by clicking on that page 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
The latest added photos will always appear on the highest numbered page.

Newspaper clipping from the "Rhyl & Prestatyn Gazette" 23rd January 1973. The photos were taken at Allans workshop of the time, convieniently located at the back of the Pub on Vale St in Denbigh. You know, I can NOT remember the name for the life of me.... was it, perhaps, the "Hawk & Buckle"? Stars of these photos: Allan Clews, Keith Hulse, Arthur Coleclough (but me thinks it's Arthur JONES really..... or is it, perhaps, Alan Colclough?) and Yours Truly |
.....and the writeup on the above FULL PAGE article in the Gazette read as follows: Whats on in 1973.... The competitive and social season couldn't have got off to a better start since the first event on the calendar for 1973 is "Y Rali Gogledd Cymru", scheduled, as most of our readers know, for Feb3-4. This event, which is one of the most popular amungst rally enthusiasts for it's concept and traditional excellent organisation, will start this year from Allitts Motors in Vale Road, Rhyl and finish at the Strand Restraunt, West Parade, Rhyl. Spectators are very welcome, but as the official spokesman for the club, I must stress that the road rally situation is already rather precarious, due not to the indifference or bad organisation of the promoting clubs, but to the chronic misbehaviour of certain spectators who try to emulate the competitors with obvious detrimental consequences to the sport as a whole. In other words, you're all welcome to come, but in heavens name have some consideration for the competitors, the sport, and most of all, the villagers en route. Enough of the Gogledd, for the calendar is pretty full. some things never change hu?...... Ed. Next on the agenda is the "Natter & Noggin" organised by the writer, at the Talardy Hotel on February 8th at 8pm. As this gathering is somewhat different in pattern form the usual ones, would all members and friends who attend kindly bring with them "an unusual object" ..... whether of mechanical origin or not. Details will be given on the night. On Feb 10th, Mr Jim Bartlett is organising a Night Nav. The venue is as yet unknown and will be published next week. Tecwyn Jones is putting on a Social Run on Feb 25th, starting from the council car park in Prestatyn Gerry Beasley is the organiser of the Natter & Noggin on March 8th. Venue to be announced later in February. On March 9th Bill Chadwick will put on a Night Nav. Here again the venue will be announced later in February. This sums it up for the time being, but the full list of events will be published at the beginning of February, after the deliberations made by of the Executive Committee at the meeting to be held on Monday, January 29th. Rhyl Motor Club fielded a team in the CASTROL QUIZ on January 15th. comprising of, Bill Chadwick, Frank Williams and Brian Colcough. The opponents were Representatives from Dudley & District Car club ....... who proved to be the better team! I've been reliably informed that the writer of this, and other items for The Gazette at the time was Pat Cesarano. |
