SOME of the entrants on the 2008 Chain & Bell
event:
(Several others turned up a little while after we'd set off!)
25th August 2008 FINALLY saw the Chain & Bell event take place and, if I may say, what a fabulous turnout we had on a dreary, wet & breezy Bank Holiday Monday! Representation from many of the North Wales Motor Clubs being noted - North Wales Car Club, Rhyl & District Motor Club, Broughton & Bretton Motor Club, Clwyd Vale Motor Club, Welsh Border Car Club - also Kirby Lonsdale Motor Club, all showing healthy interest along with a couple of lovely folk who are not directly into "motor sport" circles, Jeff & Shirley from the Tribby owners club (yes, they're "binwagoners", just like San & I)
Full list of entrants (Should your name be missing, my humble apologies, please let me know and I'll add you immediately - it got a bit hectic just before we all set off !!)
Arthur Jones, Iain Baxter, Sandra Baxter, Bill Chadwick, DVThomas, Gareth Webb, Kevin Griffiths, Rich Jones, Rod ‘the Bulletin' Pierce, Stu Thomas, Elin Thomas, Janet Thomas, Graham Thomas, Jason Nash, Sam Nash, Elin Batty, Mick Batty, Bethan Batty, Ifan Batty, Gareth Reynolds-Jones, Jeff Evans, Shirley Evans, Mark Price, Lisa Price, Simon Price, Robert Price, Paul Edwards, Tanya Maskell, Leigh Williams, Kev Roberts, Gareth Jones, Mike Hughes.
The total "entry" onthe event
was 32 (including Sandra & I) and the total contributed ON THE DAY was
£266.70 - which I have to admit
was pretty impressive as all we asked
you for was £2.50 to ride around the lake and £2.50 x 32 people
works out at £80..... There are several more donations of sponsorship
monies still to come in during the coming week and we've raised £130
on line prior to the event...... Thats £396.70 to date and, with quite
a LOT yet to come in,.......... We hope to exceed the £500 barrier!
This page will be updated again next week with the final amount raised!
on behalf of the British Heart Foundation
and myself -
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
and a special thanks to
Sheila RJ, for remembering (and sharing!) the antimidge!

"Spot the Bott"
photo competition, courtesy DVT's not quite so successful
"On Board Video" of the entire route ...... surface.
First correct answer to DVT, wins:
Daves' company on NEXT YEARS' bike ride and PERHAPS the starring role in the
2009 event video!
Dave tells me it was a problem with
his binbag that caused the video to malfunction,
Perhaps a binbag is the best place for it Dave?
It really was a treat to see so many out
on this FAMILY event simply to have an enjoyable couple of hours gentle cycle
around the lake. I think the youngest entrant out there was about 3 years
old and I KNOW the oldest was Rhyl President Mr Arthur Jones.
EVERYONE made it around the lake without incident - well, apart from Gareth
Jones, who had a minor "off", causing minor
surface damage to the bodywork, and Elin Batty, who got a "free lift"
to the finish in the Closing Car, after suffering an unrepairable puncture.........
Everyone agreed that it was a lovely day out, in spite of the breeze and the
showers and, following many favourable comments made after the event, I'm
in hope that this will now become an annual event on Rhyl Motor Clubs' calendar.
Thank you Everyone - Thank you
Iain
